LGBTQ+ Resources and Support

It is no secret that times are tough right now. Regardless of what may be going on in our lives, we can get help. We've put together a substantial (yet not comprehensive) list of helpful organizations that provide various forms of assistance to queer people. We highly recommend clicking through their websites to see what they offer and do for the queer community.

General Support

A queer mental health support group that provides 24/7 services such as free counseling and suicide prevention for anyone under 25 years old.

A free, confidential service that has a plethora of hotlines, as well as ways to meet others.

Hotline hours:

M - F 1 pm - 10 pm CST

Sat 11 am - 4 pm CST

Provides free gender-affirming items, as well as free flight assist to get you to gender-affirming care. BIPOC and disabled individuals can get early access to gender-affirming item drops.

Support for Queer People of Color

Call center that prioritizes BIPOC individuals. Provides a safe space for peer support, counseling, and reporting mistreatment, especially by police and vigilantes.

First and only hotline in the US for South Asian individuals. Provides free, confidential peer support. Can help get any additional resources one may need.

Support for Trans People

Geared towards families and family resources. Can help explain the gender spectrum and what being trans means to families. 

List of downloadable resource guides

Organization of lawyers and policy experts that tracks federal legal attacks on the trans community.

Hotline for trans individuals that provides peer support for a wide range of topics including mental health, crises, and help coming out in both English and Spanish.

Helps provide access to gender-affirming services such as free chest binders and femme shapewear, and cheaper access to hormone therapy.

Support in Iowa City

Provides support, counseling services, advocacy, and activism for people of all identities, especially women and genderqueer people.
